You know what the best thing about Cookout is? How cheap the food is! But considering the type and quality of food, the price makes sense. What doesn’t make sense are good services being offered at a low cost or free. So, when valuable services (like an ultrasound) are listed as one of a women’s clinic’s “free services,” it seems too good to be true! It makes me wonder…
Why is it free?
Are they going to try to sell me something?

With all the scams out there, it’s wise to be cautious. That’s why I want to address what it means here, at Alcove Health Women’s Clinic, when we say “free services”.
What are Alcove Health’s free services?
Pregnancy tests

Parenting program and material needs
Free pregnancy testing. When you come into the clinic for an appointment, you’ll take a laboratory-grade pregnancy test. Our tests are administered by a registered nurse and meet the proof of pregnancy requirements for Medicaid and insurance providers. Click here to request an appointment for free pregnancy testing.
Here at Alcove, we also offer free ultrasounds for early pregnancy. This ultrasound is so important and can tell you three things:

Another one of the free services we offer at Alcove Health is STI testing. We test for the three most common STIs: chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. You can make an appointment just for STI testing, but if you’re already here for another pregnancy service, the nurse can still offer you testing. If the results are positive, we can refer you to other free or low-cost organizations that offer treatment. Click here to request an appointment for free STI testing.
Free options consultations. An options consultation is a chance to process your pregnancy and options by talking them through. In this free service you’ll meet with a client advocate and a registered nurse to discuss the different abortion procedures and answer any questions you have. While Alcove Health does not perform or refer for abortions, we will provide you with all the information you need to make the best decision for your reproductive health. Our pregnancy medical appointments are typically 90 minutes to two hours long, so you are not rushed in and out. We want to give you the time to feel heard. We not only care about your health, but we care about you as a whole. Your mind, body, and soul matter here at Alcove Health.
Free parenting program and material needs. Another one of Alcove’s free services is a parenting program called LEAP. You get to take courses from a nationally recognized program – made to fit your needs! Once you complete all the courses, you’ll earn a basket full of needed baby items (valued at over $450). PLUS 6 months of diapers FOR FREE. We have a special parenting program and gifts for men, too! These programs are something your advocate will bring up during your appointment. We can also offer one-time material need assistance for things like diapers and wipes.
No matter what you come into the clinic for, you’ll never have to worry about money! When we say “free services”, it means no insurance, no bills, no mail, and no one trying to sell you something!
Cookout is good, but Alcove Health is so much better! It is completely free and the care and the services you get are top quality.
