Can You Bring Someone With You to Your Appointment at Alcove Health? - Alcove Health Women's Clinic Newport News, VA

Can you bring someone with you to your appointment at Alcove Health?

Can you bring someone with you to your pregnancy appointment? Here's what you need to know before your appointment at Alcove Health.

Coming alone to a medical appointment for an unplanned pregnancy can feel uncomfortable, even scary. While you may feel all the feelings: fear, uncertainty, and confusion, you don’t need to feel alone when you come to Alcove Health Women’s Clinic. You are welcome to bring a guest with you! In fact, we encourage you to bring someone with you for these services: the abortion/options consultation and the ultrasound.

If I bring someone with me, who should it be?

When you think about making a pregnancy decision, is there someone you are including in that process (boyfriend, friend, husband, mom)? Bring that person! Then you can both hear all the information together.

If I decide to bring someone with me, is there anyone I shouldn’t bring?

Due to the sensitive nature of our services, we do not allow children in the clinic.

If I’m a minor, can I bring someone with me who is my age?

We encourage you to bring someone you trust and feel safe with. We realize that sometimes minors do not immediately tell their parents about an unexpected pregnancy. Parental consent is not required for our services and you are welcome to bring someone with you who is your own age.

Anything else I should know?

We begin every appointment with a private consultation. This initial meeting with your advocate is to ensure we respect your privacy. Even if you bring someone with you, or they drive you to the clinic, it is still your decision how much (if any) they participate in any part of your appointment. We want to make sure we hear your wishes on who is included.

Someone from our medical team will also meet with you privately to take your health history.

If you bring someone with you, that does not mean:

  • He or she can attend every part of your appointment. You decide which parts of your appointment, if any, your guest may participate in.
  • He or she will have access to your private information (like test results, or information you shared with one of our team members in private). You determine how much information your guest receives.

Call or click the button below to request your appointment with Alcove Health today. We’re happy to work around your (and your guest’s) schedule.
