Despite the economy, parents are still able to receive eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain foods, infant cereal, baby food, fruit juice, beans and peas, and FORMULA at NO COST. But that’s not all…WIC does not just help infants and toddlers. Here in Virginia, WIC supports expectant and new moms by providing education, nutritional guidance, and breastfeeding support. The support offered to new breastfeeding moms helps to ensure both mom and baby are taking in the appropriate kinds and amounts of nutrient-based foods. When it comes to breastfeeding, a healthy mom helps grow a healthy baby.

And still that’s not all…WIC also provides health screenings and physician referrals. This means children who may be at risk for health issues can be diagnosed earlier. This means children are able to receive needed medical interventions or treatments, sooner rather than later.
