It may have been last week, or maybe it was years ago. Somewhere, in your past, it lingers. Forgotten for a bit, but then it barges back into your thoughts like a friend you haven’t seen in a long time. Only, it’s not a friend. It’s an experience. It’s a memory that just won’t leave you alone. Here at Alcove Health, we offer abortion consultations to all women considering an abortion, but maybe you need a different type of abortion consultation – one to deal with your past abortion.
We’re here for you, too, with judgment-free, compassionate recovery services.
I hear it all the time. How did you do after your abortion? I ask. “I’m just trying not to think about it,” is the most common response. Like it’s a mental exercise that, given enough time and perseverance, will make the past abortion experience fade into nothing. Just another ordinary experience on another ordinary day in their past.
But, for many women, the exercise doesn’t deliver on its promise. The experience keeps coming out of the past into their present. That’s why women often find us 10 years after their abortions. They’re tired. And frustrated. And they feel alone – like they’re the only ones who feel this way.
They may have seen the ads and bought the hype at the time. All the talk of happy, strong women who are proud of their abortions. They believed that their abortion decision would make their lives – their next ten years – better. Yet, 10 years later, it doesn’t feel better. It feels like a lie. The incongruity is blatant.
But here’s the thing. You’re not alone. Women do experience emotional affects from their abortions: like depression and other mental health difficulties. According to the Mayo clinic, “Having a medical abortion is a major decision with emotional and psychological consequences.”
This may be how you feel. Rather than asking how you can forget it, maybe the better question is how can you heal and move on as a healthy woman?
First – this is a situation that requires you to heal the way you need to heal. Even if others heal differently, even if others don’t seem to need healing from a past abortion at all – your needs are yours alone. Leave the thoughts about everyone else behind. Abortion actually isn’t a collective experience. It’s a singular experience and it’s your experience.
Second – determine to want more for your future life. Events that happen in our past can make us feel like we can never recover emotionally – but that’s not true. The way you feel today doesn’t have to be the way you feel in your future. The decision you make today – for recovery – could be one of the most pivotal ones in your life.
Third – make the bold move to click the link below. It takes courage to do the hard work to recover. But know that the hard work involved in recovering from a past abortion is worth it. Don’t run from hard. It may be the difference between the way you feel today and the way you will feel in 10 years.
If you’re tired of trying something that just doesn’t work, maybe it’s time to try something new. Here at Alcove Health, we can help with that. We offer past abortion recovery and healing two ways: through a closed group or through one-to-one healing with a grief advocate.
Does it work? Yes. How do we know? Because women who go through the healing process tell us it works. Women find recovery and true healing after years (for some, decades) of being under the weight of a past abortion. You can heal, too.
Your life – the rest of your life – is worth more than staying where you are today. Click here to begin your free & confidential healing today.
