Can Male Partners Get Tested at Alcove Health? - Alcove Health Women's Clinic Newport News, VA

Can male partners get tested at Alcove Health?

For male partners looking for STI testing, we have resources to help you protect your sexual health.

Here at Alcove Health Women’s Clinic, we test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. All STI testing is done by self-administered vaginal swab; we do not test male partners.

However, there are resources in the community that provide testing for males. If you would like a free resource for testing, please call us for that information.

More than 25 million STIs occur each year in the US. Untreated STIs can cause ongoing, lifelong complications. Your health and your future are worth protecting.

A few tips if you believe you or your partner may have been exposed:

  • Both female and male partners should be tested and refrain from sexual activity while waiting for STI testing results. If test results are positive, refrain from sexual activity until treatment is completed.
  • Follow-up testing is advised after STI treatment to prevent repeat infections.
  • Many STIs are asymptomatic (no symptoms); you can pass the infection to someone else even while you don’t have any symptoms.
  • If you’ve had sex with a partner who suspects he or she has been exposed, we advise testing for both of you.
  • Women can request a free & confidential appointment for STI testing at Alcove Health right here👉appointment page.

One more thing:

All of our services – including STI testing – are free and confidential. Patients can expect test results within 5 business days. If results are positive, we will refer for treatment. All STI testing patients receive a pregnancy test during their testing appointment.
