Alcove Health Free Services: Are They Really Free?

It sounds too good to be true, but our free services really are free. We don't even take insurance. Free means completely free at Alcove Health.

All of our services are provided at no-cost and with confidentiality.

What Free Services Do I Need If I Want An Abortion?

If you’re facing an unplanned pregnancy and considering an abortion, you will first want to confirm your pregnancy with a lab-grade pregnancy test and receive an ultrasound to determine: 

  1. The location of the pregnancy – if it’s not intrauterine, it’s a health emergency and requires immediate medical attention, not an abortion)
  2. The age of the pregnancy – measuring the fetus via ultrasound will give you the estimated gestational age which is much more accurate than dating the pregnancy from your LMP (Last Menstrual Period). The age will indicate which abortion procedures are available to you. 
  3. The viability of the pregnancy – an ultrasound will reveal if the pregnancy is viable; why would you get an abortion if you’re having a miscarriage?

If you suspect an STI exposure, you’ll want to test first before moving forward with an abortion. We provide STI testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis.

What Happens After I Receive Free Services?

After your free appointment here at Alcove Health:

  1. For patients receiving a lab-grade pregnancy test and ultrasounds, you will leave with results and receive a follow-up phone call after our medical director has reviewed the scan.
  2. If your ultrasound scan is “inconclusive,” we will provide appropriate precautions which may require follow up with an OB/GYN or the Emergency Department, or, if indicated, we will schedule a free follow-up ultrasound appointment with us here at Alcove Health.
  3. We will forward your records to the provider of your choice.
  4. You will receive STI test results within 5 business days; if treatment is needed, we will refer out.
