Stressing over a positive pregnancy test is common, but it is even more stressful when the “positive line” is faint.  Am I pregnant or not??  Well, typically it means you ARE pregnant.  The urine pregnancy tests are designed to detect hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin) hormone in your urine, which is not present at a high enough level for detection unless you are pregnant.  Each urine-based pregnancy test is different but many newer pregnancy tests are able to detect a pregnancy before have even missed your period.

If you are concerned that you might have a false positive you should consider taking another test first thing in the morning, do not consume more liquids than usual, and make sure you read the instructions and are checking the results within the recommended period of time.
