Should I Ask Roo?

Seeking advice from an online source might be easy but it might not be the best course of action.

You mustered up the courage to buy the at-home pregnancy test and it’s positive.  What now?  You’ve got questions!  First of all . . . is this thing accurate?   You could ask Roo, but finding a reliable source for a free pregnancy test should be first on your to-do list!

As important as that is, you might have some pressing questions that can’t wait.  You might be thinking…

    • What will my boyfriend say?
    • What will others think?
    • Will my parents be angry?

It’s natural to worry about what others might think or say.  But there are far more important questions to ask.  Instead, consider asking yourself these questions…

    • What are my options?
    • What are the pros and cons of each?
    • How might each option impact me physically?
    • How might each impact me mentally or emotionally?

Those are big questions.  Where should you go for answers?

Seeking advice from an online source might be easy but it might not be the best course of action.  Before seeking advice from an online source, such as a chatbot, consider the following…

    • Who is on the other side of this chatbot?
    • What do they know about my unique situation?
    • Where do their values and beliefs line up with mine?
    • Where do they differ?
    • And most importantly, do they have anything to gain from my choice?

Roo is the sexual health chatbot from Planned Parenthood.  Planned Parenthood is the number one abortion provider in the nation.  If you decide to have an abortion after chatting with someone on Roo, there’s a good chance you will end up at a Planned Parenthood office.  So understanding what the person on the other side of the chatbot might have to gain is important.

Instead, consider seeking the advice of people who love you and care about you.  You should also know that there are places you can go with real, live people who want to hear your story and who want to help…people who have nothing to gain from your decision.

At Alcove Health Women’s Clinic, we provide a safe space for you to process your options.  In addition, our Registered Nurses can provide you with the valuable medical information you need to make an informed decision like a free pregnancy test and a free ultrasound.  We can also offer you a free abortion consultation and free STI testing.  Give us a call today at 757-591-8141 and schedule an appointment

It’s important to ask the right questions.  It’s equally important to get the right information from people you can trust.
