Help, I'm pregnant but I don't know who the father is!

"Whose baby is this?"

It’s not a rare question around here.

For some women, it is the first question on their minds during their abortion consultations – “I know I’m pregnant, but I’m not sure who the father is. Can you help me figure it out?”

It may be one of the most important questions she is asking when she’s trying to make a pregnancy decision. Her final pregnancy decision may hinge on this one answer.

There are different reasons for her uncertainty. She may be in a relationship, but also has had a one-night hook up with another man. She may have multiple sex partners regularly. She may be the victim of a sexual assault.

All of these situations can add extra complications to an unplanned pregnancy. And Confusion. Whose baby is this?

Whatever the reason for your uncertainty, we can help.

Here at Alcove Health Women’s Clinic, we hear you and we know you want to get answers to all of your questions. Especially if you are trying to make a pregnancy decision.

You deserve a safe, judgment-free space to process your feelings and ask all the questions you want to ask – in privacy and with guaranteed confidentiality.

You also deserve medical services that provide accurate information. An ultrasound will do that.

Early pregnancy ultrasounds are the most accurate way to measure the age of the pregnancy. Knowing the age of the pregnancy gives the best-estimated conception date. And with a conception date, you will likely have the information you need to determine the father.

If even that information is not enough – and you still have questions after your ultrasound – one of our Registered Nurses can offer you information about resources in the community that will help.

And here at Alcove Health Women’s Clinic, all of our ultrasounds are free.

We get it. There are a lot of questions that come with an unplanned pregnancy. Sometimes though, you need a very specific answer to a very specific question.

We’re here to help you answer that question.

You don’t need to handle this alone. We can help.

At Alcove Health Women’s Clinic in Newport News, we provide a safe space for you to process your options, along with the medically accurate information you need to make an informed decision.  Call us today at 757-591-8141 to schedule your free appointment.

I’m Pregnant, When am I Due?

I'm Pregnant, When Am I Due?

“When did I get pregnant?” and “When is my due date?”

The positive pregnancy test answers the, “Am I pregnant?” question.  But sometimes one answered question creates so many new questions, doesn’t it? Like, “When did I get pregnant?” and “When is my due date?” Important questions, with connected answers.

As you talk about pregnancy – or read about it – you will hear the term, “LMP” often. This refers to the first day of your “Last Menstrual Period.” Your pregnancy will be dated from this date. There’s a good reason for this.  Most women keep track of when they start their periods; however, they don’t know exactly when they ovulate. Dating a pregnancy by your last menstrual period fixes this problem and makes sure we are all using the same dating system.

From this date, your “Estimated Due Date” is exactly 40 weeks after the first day of your LMP.

This all lines up like clockwork – for some people.

Keep in mind this is an estimated due date, not a guaranteed due date.  There may be other factors involved that need to be considered.

A free ultrasound, early in the pregnancy, is the best way to answer the question, “When am I due?”. Measurements taken during this early ultrasound are valid and remove any confusion that an LMP – especially an LMP with an irregular period – may leave.

Want to leave the guessing and counting behind and get a definite answer? There’s an easy and FREE way to do that. Call Alcove Health Women’s Clinic today.  Make your free and confidential appointment today – for a pregnancy test and ultrasound – so you can have correct answers to all your questions. You deserve medically accurate information so you can make the best decision for your reproductive health. We can help with that. Call 757-591-8141 today.

How Do I Calculate My Conception Date?

HOW DO I CALCULATE MY CONCEPTION DATE?

You can use the LMP method to estimate your conception date and your due date

The first day of your last menstrual period, also known as LMP, will be something that doctors and nurses will discuss throughout your pregnancy.

“What’s so important about my LMP?”

Many pregnant women aren’t sure of the actual date of conception (when the egg was fertilized). Unless you are charting your cycle each month, it can be very difficult to pinpoint the specific date. If a woman knows the date of her LMP, it can give an estimated range of when she likely conceived. Why? The typical menstrual cycle (from period to period) lasts about 28 days, and ovulation usually occurs around day 14. Knowing the date of your LMP helps the doctor reasonably estimate the date you conceived and assists in determining your due date.

Are you pregnant and don’t know what to do next?  We offer free consultations and free ultrasounds, which are especially helpful when you’re unsure of your conception date. Schedule your free and confidential appointment HERE.

Common questions about your Conception Date:

    1. What if I have irregular cycles (shorter or longer than 28 days)?
    2. What if I don’t remember my LMP?

These are not uncommon questions. In fact, you might be surprised by how many women have irregular menstrual cycles or don’t remember when their last period was. If this is you, don’t panic!

Ultrasounds are another very helpful and accurate way to determine estimated due dates. Early on in pregnancy, fetal development is fairly standard. An ultrasound can determine how far along you are based on the size of the fetus.

Even if you don’t know the date of your LMP, Alcove Health can confirm your pregnancy with a lab quality pregnancy test and perform an ultrasound, at no cost, to help determine how far along you are and what your estimated due date is. You deserve medically-evidenced information to make the best decision for your reproductive health.

“When is my due date?”

You can also calculate your due date using the Last Menstrual Period method.  Knowing this information will help you know how far along you are in your pregnancy.  Schedule your free appointment to get this information and an ultrasound for free.  That’s right, we offer help and resources for your pregnancy decision and we have nothing to sell you.
